Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Detection (CSMA/CD) is a means of avoiding collisions on a LAN, but my uneducated interpretation is that this mechanism is meant to defeat relatively steady-state phenomena. 802.11b uses Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA), not CSMA/CD. I am not overly familiar with the bluetooth standard, but I would suspect that some of the interference with 802.11b networks would be mitigated (though not eliminated) by the different 22 Mhz channels when DSSS is used. In the best case, an 802.11b network will only be able to use three of those channels (1, 6 and 11), as this is the only configuration where the frequencies don't overlap.

The more I learn about Bluetooth, the more I come to believe that he was just some belligerent Bluto/bimbonic blastomycosis.
