Steve, yes, you are not far off, although the analysts are preparing to treat the 0.48 part as one time super special extraordinary and unsustainable gain. They think that those are not green $$$$ enough, although they like very much the color of $$$$ made by GE Capital. IMO sooner or later they have to change the way they think about it. But they are not ready yet. You see, Intel together with Cisco are leading the pack to the NEW ECONOMY. Pecks and Goshas have much slower brains. They need time to digest and figure it out. I can wait, I am here for long haul.

Steve - Re:"1.6 billion more in income is 48c, therefore we should expect earnings to be $1.19? (.71+.48)"

Note that another correction for investment earnings is to deduct taxes to obtain net earnings. The Intel earnings report will clearly state the type of "earnings". Other reports are often vague on whether it is gross or net after taxes investment earnings.

Steve...for what it's worth, the analysts are calling for .95-.99 with a whisper around 1.04, if Intel prints 1.19 it would probably be considered a blow out quarter. Also heard that Intel wants to factor in the split, therefore .55-.60 would be nice! .......M
