This is interesting. The CEO of Microchip (MCHP), which just posted great results--and is in a semi area close to Atmel--says the SSB guy was "all wet" a few weeks ago, since the semi industry is just about a year out of the last recession. What happened to our 48 dollars a share? Down the tubes based on false comments. His comment: "we have no concerns in the business.we started this quarter on july 1 with, again, the strongest backlog ever in the history of our company with 80 of our business in backlog.with 14 days gone by, the bookings have been so strong that much of the quarter is really in the backlog.if you're referring to some comment made by john joseph of salomon smith barney a few weeks ago regarding the semiconductor industry, i strongly believe that john was too early in making that call.semiconductor industry is now only about one year into the recovery since the last recession," tveyes.com
