Look at CHRS for a recent expamle where it isn't managment, rather its manipulators outside of the company manipulating the stock. The thread header here is Edlstein's article on CHRS.

This is a interesting example in that Mgmt, publicly disputed many of the unreasonalbe expectations attributed to the company.......proper behavior as they have a responsibility to the investing public (not only those who happen to own shares at the time).
Efforts on the part of a company to artifically inflate the expectations and or value of their stock constitutes criminal behavior. its obvious to anyone familiar with zsun, hitt and others that the companies concern was their stock price........that is what is commonly refered to as crim behavior on these stock threads.
