"To the defense of the incumbent operators, being able to deliver 24/7 emergency lifeline services will continue to be the reason some people stay loyal to an incumbent operator."

Jeff- If by incumbent you mean the ILECs, I agree! I've made 20 documented service calls to my cable service provider in the last 12 months. My cable modem goes down every other week. Usually for a couple hours at a time. What's worse, it happens randomly, in the middle of the work day.

Lately it's gone down for 24 hours, twice. And to add insult to injury(or maybe not<g>), it now takes my 300 channels of fairly worthless TV down with it. What a disaster.

I'm seriously thinking about switching to DSL. But first I'll probably give Time Warner another chance(my provider is now GTE). If both cable networks can't get their act together, I'm going to try a data-CLEC next for ADSL service. I'm lucky because I have a great deal of choices for broadband access. -MikeM(From Florida)

Hi Jeff, are you aware of anything going on with
Arbinet to cause them to pull their registration
(other than the 'greedy underwriter' factor)?
