This is the 21st century, Ron, the Information Age, not the dawn of the Industrial Revolution in England. Allow me to bring you back from the World of Abstraction, since it is fairly clear to me( based on your statements) that you have never run a business and employed other people. First of all, a business, especially a service business, is only as good as its workers. If a service business does not have good workers, then the business will most likely go down the tubes. Secondly, one can be an unabashed capitalist and be quite humane towards one's workers. Actually, one needs to be humane towards one's workers if one wants the business to grow and maximize profit. If you would bother to get out of the copy and paste mode that Doug, IMHO, accurately depicts you as doing constantly, and try to enter the real world, you would find that anyone who owns and runs a thriving business is quite appreciative of a good worker. The Vision of the Business comes from the Capitalist, the Entrepreneur, who risks his or her money for the sake of Profit. The workers have to buy into the vision and execute it properly. You are so abstract, Ron, so plastic and superficial, you honestly have always sounded to me like one of those Government Bureaucrats running around D.C. I lived in DC for 5 years, met and talked to many of them and can sniff one 10,000 miles away. Any lurker who reads this thread would do well to take what you say with a grain of salt, to say the least, since you are living in LA LA Land. I think you should try to get in touch with the real business world. PS What happened to your abstract "fair trade" argument? Decided to give up on that?
