Hi Rosie,

Yes the heart-rate monitors are great for training and also during races.

One of my running friends gave me one about 3 yrs. ago. I was able to increase my fitness and race pace while using it. It helps during a race by 'reminding' you when you get out of your fitness zone. Typically runners start a race running too fast for their fitness level and then burn out towards the end of the race. I had a problem with the strap chafing my chest. It stayed sore all the time, therefore I quit using it (and my race times have slowed). The program really works, if you stick to it. Maybe I'll get it out again, thanks for reminding me...

Good luck. It is fun to use the monitor and watch your progress.

love,
cowgirl
