DS: You are right. And far be it from me as a guy over 70 years on this earth to try to match "recall" with a young whippersnapper such as yourself (retired though we both are, my friend, I am retired twice - loved both working and retiring but the second was best).

Very impressed with your credentials. And I respect your memory. I am especially pleased that you recall Wellfleet was ahead in real stuff then. Images and PR aside.

I of course owned both - in fact my basket held 6 - can't recall which, but as the GG book suggests I moved toward Cisco asap then. Not sorry. And in no way am I suggesting anything but admiration for Cisco then and now.

I was just stimulated by Don's post to think about the distant past and Cisco's emergence as a gorilla. And I still think patents had little or nothing to do with that.
