Solon,

Aparently God was angry with Moses for having failed to keep the divine command given to Abraham in Genesis 17.9-14:
God also said to Abraham: "On your part, you and your descendants after you must keep my covenant throughout the ages. This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you that you must keep: every male among you shall be circumsized. Circumsize the flesh of your foreskin, and that shall be the mark of the covenant between you and me.
Throughout the ages, every male among you, when he is eight years old, shall be circumsized...Thus my covenant shall be in your flesh as an everlasting pact. If a male is uncircumsized, that is, if the flesh of his foreskin has not been cut away, such a one shall be cut off from my people; he has broken my covenant."

In the end Moses' life is spared when his wife circumcises their son. :o)

RE: MOSES SURVIVES GOD'S ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT THANKS TO QUICK THINKING WIFE.

Exodus

4:24
And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.

4:25
Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.

4:26
So he let him go (God relents now that all foreskins have been removed)

Surly thou art quoting an outdated translation of the Bible. This paragraph of the Bible, when reading any translation besides King James will get the real story:
Moses son was about to be killed by God, but Moses wife Zipporah acknowledged his heritage as Hebrew thus saving him by circumcising him. Circumcision sheds blood now just as in the old days, and their is no way of changing that.

Solon sees God rewarding violence. I see God answering a prayer. Zipporah merely showed that she was serious by circumcising her son, displaying his Hebrew heritage.

In the paragraph and story it is not clear if it was Moses or Moses' son who was going to be killed.

Again, Solon shows his inability to be objective.
