Good issue to bring up. Bursty traffic allows more users on the network at the same time without a noticeable difference in service.

However, streaming media will inherently limit the capacity of ANY network regardless of technology. This means that streaming customers may have to pay more money to the carriers. (?) So the technology that has the greatest capacity advantage has the best chance of success. I think its crystal clear by now that CDMA-based systems offer the greatest capacity. Voice is low bit rate streaming technology if you think about it.

This is why technologies that dynamically change the bit rate based on content are so great. For example, if you are watching a movie where the background (75% of the pixels) does not change at all for a 5 minute scene, then the bit rate could be reduced dramatically without you even knowing it!

From what I understand, for QCOM's demo of HDR last Fall, they used a live video stream to show off the robustness of the technology.

If I recall correctly, QCOM stock went up something like $30 the next day (pre-split dollars) after that demo!
