I was disappointed that the L2 access width on TBird was still 64 bits mostly because I think a half-clock-rate 256 bit wide access L2 would give slightly better L2 performance, but, more importantly, it would eliminate L2 transistor speed as a potential GHz-limiting bottleneck.
