I can't help you with your question. I can tell you that whoever manufacturers the HWP 545 screen has done a fantastic job compared to the Palm IIIC screen (the clarity on the HWP is unbelievable).

This is not a bashing Palm comment, rather just my opinion since I DO OWN BOTH.

Compaq gets displays from a number of manufacturers (last time I checked). PALM's S-1 stated that they sole-source their displays from Sharp, though they may have a second supplier on board by now.
