Tony - Re: "This plays right into Intel's hand, who is the king (gorilla?) of those things. Maybe that's why we're seeing the hand-helds of all kinds turn up with Intel processors?"

Yep - and Intel also has the new designs for these applications - such as a 600 MHz StrongARM that will replace piddling 25 MHz Motorola Dragonball CPUs !!

The potential volume of StrongARM and Cell Phone related CPUs, DSPs (ADI co-design), flash, and big die ITanium & Willamette CPUs calls for a huge wafer fab capacity expansion.

And Intel is adding Wafer Fab Capacity at an unprecedented rate - with BRAND NEW FABS - or major EXPANSIONS - under construction simultaneously in Chandler, AZ, Rio Rancho, NM, Colorado Springs, CO, Hudson, Mass, Leixlip Ireland, and "potentially " Israel.

Who else in the world will be capable of providing 100s of millions Cell Phone CPUs, HandHeld PC CPUs, Flash memory, Server and Desktop and Notebook CPUs and Network Processors?
