The subsequent press release 3 days later states that it is a "multi-chip" solution. We agree then that SSTI is incapable of creating a single-chip solution based on the current flash density they are utilizing. My statement that the capability of manufacturing a single chip with the stated capacity (upto 64 MB) is not currently within SSTI's expertise was not a bust on SSTI. I am not trying to disparage their technology as nobody currently could produce this type of product as a single chip . As you state, other plausible reasons may exist that explain why a single-chip solution is not currently possible, but you did not offer any. 2) ADC components: The 8 MB to 64 MB embedded ADC products are mentioned in the SSTI press release with prices given. In fact, it is mentioned just below the title line with pricing given in tabular format toward the end of the piece. Thus, we certainly agree that this product line exists. 3) Whether you are speaking of 64 MB embedded ADC's or 96 MB CompactFlash, SSTI plans to use higher densities of flash than the "low density" technology that they currently "own". You also state that SSTI would consider (in the future) entering the high density flash market if profitability allows the transition. Thus, since these chips are available already by August it seems logical that SSTI will use a either multiple low to moderate density stand alone flash, but not high density flash chips to construct this multi-chip product. This calls into question the profitability of a moderate to high density CF card (or even embedded flash products) when construction is limited to current densities of SuperFlash flash. 4) SuperFlash: This will be used for both the controller and the flash portions of ADC. Thanks for the clarification. 5) ADC & disk drive emulation: Here I am asking whether SSTI will license this technology as they already have licensed it for their CF cards. The technology in question is at the heart of SanDisk's patent portfolio. __________________________________________________________________________________ OT: 1) I am not concerned about Bluetooth or other local wireless solutions currently. 2) I still believe that Nakhimovsky delineated the advantages of removable flash vs. embedded flash for portable consumer applications. I have selected and highlighted several passages from the piece he wrote. In the other unrelated markets such as set-top boxes, dvd players, fixed Internet appliances, thin clients,... I believe that embedded flash has distinct advantages, primarily over rotating hard drives. These applications will overlap FLSH's territory, not SNDK's. Ausdauer
