Ken,

I have found that I have better luck splitting the spreads with NDX vs. OEX. I almost always split the spread.

I would likely cover if it got within 2 percent of my short side, about 4300. I would not pay the ask. I would either leg out below the ask and above the bid or just put in a spread order. I have done it both as a spread and as individual legs. This trade was put on as a spread order.
