Oh right - Pearl Harbor. That did put a damper on the America First Committee's argument.

nihil, The Japanese may have been the ones to shoot first at U.S. territory but, they were provoked into breaking the fragile peace between us. The entire Pacific Fleet, by executive order from the White House, was ordered into Pearl Harbor, without any military reason being given to the commanders in Hawaii. Had "Bull" Halsey not had "convenient" engine troubles with his carrier task force, we would have had no Naval defense in the Pacific field of operation, except for a few brave, but expendable, PT boats, and crews. ~H~
