<<Just been reading through tons of sludge documents, etc... WHAH... it's making me feel ill...>>

I prefer the morning paper with my breakfast, but each to their own as they say.

How about PCBs? Once widely used in electrical equipment like transformers and now found in waters all over. In some cases in high enough quantities to croak a croc.

I am a nut about recycling, which is ironic given that my Rover gets 13 miles per gallon of premium. Nevertheless, we recycle paper, newspaper, bottles, cans, cardboard, plastic bags, metal, and all plastic labeled 1 or 2. Fairfax makes it easy, at the dump there is a section for recycling, and every few weeks I haul a Rover full of stuff, and it's free. They charge you to throw things away at the dump, but if you recycle, you can drive in a special entrance without stopping. They also have a place for used motor oil, and two or three times a week they accept hazardous waste like solvents. I have no idea whether this is cost-effective, but I like it.

I also don't use bug spray or weed killer.

When we come to visit, you and Chris will have a lot to talk about. He's a shit expert, too. He used to design sewage treatment systems. But he's an engineer, not a biologist, so he doesn't think the stuff is as malign as you do. I am on your side, though. He also doesn't think PCBs are bad, and he's in favor of incinerating toxic waste.

The solution to your sludge problem-

Hop in your truck and drive to Quebec. Start a rumor that Ontario has all this great sludge and won't share it with Quebec because the people of Ontario don't like the people of Quebec. Then when Quebec files a law suit to get the sludge let them have it all.

Makes me think that it's time to say to hell with it and start looking for some nice, quiet, out-of-the-way place to go off to so that I can live out the rest of my days paddling around in my canoe...

But Croc, Sierra Blanca is about the most out-of-the-way spot in the contiguous 48 states, and somehow the sludge pirates targeted it. There's nowhere to hide from The Dark Side.
