)--July 18, 2000--Imatron Inc. (Nasdaq:IMAT - news) announced today that it has sold an Electron Beam Tomography (EBT) scanner to BodyScan Imaging LLC in Kansas City, Missouri. This system sale will be reflected in the Company's third quarter financial results.

BodyScan Imaging LLC will provide imaging services to detect coronary artery disease, carotid artery disease, lung cancer and osteoporosis. In addition, BodyScan Imaging will offer electron beam angiography (EBA). BodyScan Imaging will market its preventive health services to both physicians and the general public. The center will be located in Kansas City, Missouri and will serve both Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas and the entire Western Missouri area. The facility is expected to be operational in September 2000. In addition to this center, a number of other BodyScan Imaging centers are in the planning and development stage.

Anthony Sciuto, President of BodyScan Imaging LLC, stated, ``We are looking forward to opening our first diagnostic center in Kansas City, Missouri. We are forging important medical alliances both in Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas and are expanding this effort to build a strong support base for our success.
