Hi GV, RE: "Actually, tech is one of the few places where most of the analysts come from"

I think that's because analysts seem to head into high-tech (rather than high-tech into WS). Remember my post re: several of the analysts who were taking up positions at either startups or VC firms?

Analysts are smart folks and they know where the money is at - and IMH-biased-O it's in high-tech stock, not a firm which restricts your compensation to salary.

I was seeing outflows of several local analysts into some VC firms & startups. And why not? The pay could be potentially ultimately better via stock and it's a lot of fun, very creative and challenging to boot. And nothing can compare with the environment - very friendly yet competitive. You can really love your job & going to work in the morning. How many analysts can say that?

Cheers,
Amy J PS Our startup is hiring in mgt, sales, eng : )
