sditto: As usual, right on ! Sure, that dates me but guess I have been more open lately (probably dangerous) about my personal ideas.

For those who do not follow the Geof Moore approach as it is evolving, the Revised "Manual" was a step, the "Living on the Fault Line" a progression in his thinking (but for managers not investors), so what next?

Qualcomm has been busily concentrating on "core" (as has Nortel BTW) which preceded Moore's new book but is completely consistent with it.

Note: IBM has been the Q's "foundry" for a long long time. Some know, others may not, the the hidden power in chips is those IBM builds, mostly for itself, but along the way, for Qualcomm. In addition the demand for Q designed "chips" has caused the Q to turn to Taiwan for "foundries".

Qualcomm has little or nothing to fear from Intel or Texas Instruments when it comes to "smarts" of CDMA chip design, but the coup de grace is software.

There simply is nothing on this earth like what Dr J has assembled for his company in that re: CDMA in every possible permutation.

Is this a house of cards looking to collapse at the first strong wind? Think about it. The Q has come from nowhere to dominance of CDMA. Will Qualcomm lose out to the Europeans, to INTC or TXN, or to .....? As Ruffian likes to say, "stay turned".

Best.

PS My rhetorical questions are not addressed to you sditto, since you have long since made clear your understanding. Just carried away re: the skeptics.
