The socialist Europeans are like the socialist Chinese. They are secretly rabid capitalists but the difference between them and us is that more of the bounty trickles down here. Beyond a doubt the greatest capitalist nation in the world is China. On the other hand Silicon Valley is loaded with indolent incompetents which run to government at every turn of luck or bad idea. The effective reality is that it's no contest. The Europeans have to win at any cost because their past entanglement with expressed socialism has made them horribly poor. They'll revert to any means to accomplish their ends. In contrast Silicon Valley is fat and will sell its birthright for a another pot of beans. They have Stanford and the Hoover Institute to instruct them on the superiority of cooperation over competition. Only academics, bleeding hearts, and fools believe that.
