While I personally dislike Oracle's tactics and management, I cannot argue that they seem to be in a more solid position relative to Sun. Clearly their products are working for a lot of corporations (as are Sun's and Microsoft's), but they also have a much more reasonable PE than Sun or some of the really high fliers. Even if Microsoft started making greater inroads in database deployments, something that usually takes longer than other enterprise software changes, Oracle still has significant value built into their stock price that could allow them to adapt without a near term share decline.

To paraphrase your words, we will all have more clarity in time.

Thanks,
Mike
