Cringe - Re: "the company said that it would soon begin shipments of its Intel® Itaniumâ„¢ "

That isn't DELAYED - they are going to start shipping soon.

Funny - when AMD said they were shipping ThumperTurds in Q1 but booking revenues in Q2, I didn't see you SCREAMING THUMPERTURDS DELAYED !!!!! THUMPERTURDS DELAYED AGAIN !!!!

MerDUD DELAYED again!

There once was a chip named merced,
whose x86 was cursed...
It got so hot it fried my slot-
now the gorilla and the chimp are reversed!

Cirruslvr, Re: MerDUD DELAYED again!

"Today, the company said that it would soon begin shipments of its Intel® Itaniumâ„¢ processor for systems used by IT end-users in pilot installations, and that the company now expects to begin recording revenue for Itanium processor shipments during the fourth quarter, rather than the third."

intel.com;

So, I recall intel saying that they would begin shipments in 2H/2000, but I don't recall them announcing that they expected revenue from shipments in Q3. Can you show me a link where intel said that expected revenue from Itanium in Q3?

I've seen many of the people around here frequently state that they didn't expect volume shipments of Itanium until early Q1/2001, but now that revenue is expected by intel in Q4/2000, that makes it "Late".

I guess a person could interpret the above statement to mean a delay in Itanium.

That's one way to look at it.

<MerDUD DELAYED again! >

Oh, what a surprise! Doesn't yield over 600MHz. Doesn't have a single mainstream production worthy operating system.
I am sure there will continue be folks who still have hopes for this protoype. Hope springs eternal.
