I was hoping to gain the benefit of your (and the thread's) insight on this point. I see from your earlier message that you must think I am an "Intel Basher" -- nothing could be further from the truth. I have been long for several years and Intel is without a doubt my favorite investment. I do think it is legitimate to question whether the company should pursue side businesses that caused them to lose $850 million this quarter and $1.3 billion over the first 6 months. Even AMD does not lose that much!! I am just not aware of many companies that do several disparate businesses very well. GE comes to mind, but as I said they are willing to dump any business in which they are not #1 or #2.
