Follow the Rambus model. Last quarter they gave $82M in way-below-market options to their CEO and $89M to their 165 other employees.

Intel could do the same thing and lower salaries to $20K for all of their engineers.

Also, Intel can certainly cut their R&D budget. Rambus only needs $18.5M of R&D to extort money from nearly everyone.

(PS - I was looking at Rambus' LAST 10Q and haven't heard their 2Q earnings yet)

Comment: By that time, they'll probably have shelved P4 because by the time retail quantities hit the market, it too will be a dinosaur compared to its AMD competition, so they'll just strike up the band one more time, (and hopefully the market will again buy the chorus) and promise a some-time-in-the-future-if-ever P5! Why not, the singalong (with pingpong ball and all) has exceeded their wildest expectations since October! Might as well milk that one dry!!!
