That's a very realistic view, but most Americans before 1890 started off on the farm, many on free government land. Some did okay. Many were driven off the by lack of opportunity. Today there is no prosperous country where an intelligent, educated independent peasantry dominates the population. France, Germany, Italy are urbanized, but their farms are so productive that Europe has to dispose of the excesses. My little farm will have to be farmed by people until the lasers succeed in looking around corners.
