re: "And by the way, who besides you and Dan3, last December, would have entertained the possibility of AMD at $90 today...You'd have been, and were, derided by many, for stating that such was possible...AMD is on a roll...Who knows where it will get to once the marketplayers get by their Intel bias and see AMD's potential for what it is?"

In the interest of accuracy I have to confess that I never actually predicted what seems to be unfolding. Nor am I counting on it yet. I cited the $500 to $1,000 range as an attainable GUB (Greatest Upper Bound) possibility from what I have called a "scoping" calculation. I cited a period of three to five years (now less than two to four years given the passage of time) as the duration it might take.

If it happens sooner, great; one should never take his own goals too literally or too seriously. If it fails to come to pass, C'est Domage!

Regards,

DARBES

Niceguy,

You wrote "And by the way, who besides you and Dan3, last December, would have entertained the possibility of AMD at $90 today."

I did. That_crazy_doug and I work at the same location, so he can vouch for this as an eye witness. I've been trying to convince everyone I know to buy AMD since last October. Back when AMD was $18, I became convinced that AMD would hit $300 in slightly over a year. I wrote on a corner of my whiteboard the progression I believed it would follow. This is what has been written on my whiteboard for the last six months:

Oct '99 $18
Jan '00 $31
Apr '00 $55
Jul '00 $96
Oct '00 $168
Jan '01 $296

Those numbers are from memory so a few might be off by a buck or so, but I'm 100% sure about the July and Jan 01 numbers. I took some good natured ribbing at work because I blew April so badly.

Amazingingly enough, despite making these predictions, I have failed miserably on short term option plays. I've made a fortune on the stock, writing puts, and buying leap calls, but short term options I've actually lost a few thousand.

Mike

niceguy...<And by the way, who besides you and Dan3, last December, would have entertained the possibility of AMD at $90 today...>

Hello, niceguy, I believe I was one of those guys (actually I was hoping for $120 by now, but that's another matter). I believe there have been a few others too. I have to hand it to DRBES though, he has been the most vocal about the triple digits, or was it Dan? Anyway I'm not making any predictions, but I sure hope tomorrow's earnings finally gets us to 100.
