Joe <Sony has been Intel only OEM>

Very bummed about this. I bought a VIAO laptop earlier this year. I just saw some sweet VIAO desktops over at the Metreon in SF last week. They build a beautiful system. I would love for one to beautify my home office. But I can't until they power it with something else (guess).

Until then, I'll watch it like a love-struck teenager ... and dream ... **sigh**

<CompUsa also has their private label / built to order systems that appear to be Intel only.>

Yes, CompUSA was pro-Intel mostly. However, the
last week flyer has an opening with a headline:
"AMD Athlon processors - the future of computing",
or something like that (citing from memory) :)

BTW, in my area (Austin TX) I have never seen
a real (non-display) P-iii 866,
mostly 600 and 650, sometimes 667, and rarely
733. But the CompUSA has all line of HP 850,
900 (sold out), and 1000 Athlon machines.
Plus Compaqs 900 and 1000.
