Chuck - RE: "Merced gotto be Intel management's biggest blunders." They shouldn't have hyped it so much. If they were low-key about it, but still had their IA64 fund and all the same development efforts, these delays wouldn't have been a big deal. But now, all of a sudden, Intel says the launch won't be a big fanfare according to that News.com article. Too late... I'm glad AMD is low-key about Sledgehammer. And they have only said a 2001 launch, not something like 1H, mid-year, or Q3/Q4.
