AMD's current market-share numbers are misleading because they include business inherited from failed competitors, like Cyrix and Centaur.


Nothing can be farther from the truth than the above statement. Neither Cyrix nor Centaur had any presence in high performance sector so the 7% are taken from Intel directly. The statement about budget is wrong as well since AMD was loosing their share of low end to intel. It was somewhat true during the 1q though.
