Scumbria,

I'd be willing to bet you a nickel that if AMD earns $2.00+, that AMD will trade, at least momentarily, over $95 by the end of the week.

Scumbria, come on, be a little more contrarian here...

If the stock had run up the last three months, great earnings would be more likely to trigger a selloff than they would be given the sideways history, no?

You've really been taking bitter pills lately, huh?

Always darkest before the dawn...

Scumbria,

<Given the spectacular lateral movement of this stock over the last three months, I think blowout earnings could project AMD all the way to somewhere between $75 and $95 dollars.>

The Solomon call killed the stock before earnings when it should have gone up. A lot of weak hands should have let go of AMD at that time. These folks may come back with a vengence when AMD dispels the commodity flash thinking (driving factor behind Joseph's call).

Lots of good news will comeout today.
- Blow away earnings
- Strong CPU shipments going forward
- ASP expectations of $100+ going forward (good chance that we already got there in Q2)
- Upbeat flash story
- Debt retirement
- Above all, a sense that AMD's profits may no longer be a one time event

I could be wrong but I think these should help cap the downside to $80 (coupled with a lots of 80 puts).

Since a lot of selling seems to have gone on yesterday and today, the sell-in-to-earnings may already have ruin its course. So, for a change we may have upside bias going into earnings. If this theory is valid, I find a number over $100 entirely possible. I have a felling that the likely number may be close to $90 than anything but a wide range of trading wouldn't be surprising.

Will be good to see the options expiration game end this quarter. Afterall, the stock does not belong here.

Chuck
