I can just hear the sigh of relief coming out of the Vatican on this news. Hope the Pope learned his lesson:

AMSTERDAM, July 18 (Reuters) - Dutch authorities will not prosecute Pope John Paul for discrimination after he slammed a gay rights march as an "offence to Christian values," an Amsterdam court said on Tuesday.

It said the public prosecutor had decided not to press charges because of the Pope's status as head of the Roman Catholic church, head of the Vatican state and highest representative of the Holy See. This position gave him global immunity from jurisdiction, the court said in a statement.

Guess this means ordinary Catholics shouldn't expect the same silk glove treatment if they're guilty of such as horrendous crime.

When will the writings of the Apostle Paul be banned in Amster[con]dam[ned].

Also, this prosecuter apparently hasn't heard about the international court which said that Lady Thatcher's being head of state didn't give her immunity from being prosecuted by Argentina for the "war crime" of killing soldiers during the Faulklins war. He's a little behind the times.

Hard to keep up I know.
