Haim: About 66% of Nasdaq companies have either met or exceeded earnings estimates... earnings.nasdaq.com I'll agree that some of these estimates may have been lowered, but looking forward, we have an expectation of an end to the rate hike cycle and lower oil prices... So, on balance, the Naz should rebound after re-testing the recent open gap in the 3960 area... bigcharts.com Jim

Judging from the GET chart, it looks like the first leg down has a fifth wave down to come by Thursday/Friday. I personally don't think we'll approach that 4275 high on the bounce with the poor seasonality and weak breadth in the market outside of techs --- couldn't even a muster a strong sell signal by Monday on the S&P 100 and the general market, just a series of four strong sells on the NDX. All in my opinion, of course.

Haim, I would associate it more with seasonality and selling on the news, just like the last 2 years...though I could be wrong. To me, this was an expected event. My short positions are paying off nicely already. Like CRUSADER, I am long a nice piece of STLW right now. I did sell some more of my recently acquired LU (2 weeks old) today as well. I am long only STLW, KEM and VSH besides LU right now. I just hope that I have not bailed early. tp
