grand·stand (grndstnd, grn-)
n.

A roofed stand for spectators at a stadium or racetrack.
The spectators or audience at an event.
v. intr. grand·stand·ed, grand·stand·ing, grand·stands.
To perform ostentatiously so as to impress an audience.

I think you misjudge my motive. I don't know, and don't care about, most of the people who were spectators, and got no pleasure, at all, from the attention. It was onerous. As for PMs, there was no way to make sure we got everyone who knew her. In fact, there were several overlapping groups of people, some of whom did not know the others. I should mention that I consulted with Claudia, her sister, in advance and she approved the plan.

As for me, I was pleased to see so many people do what they could to help someone they cared about. I was humbled by the public outpouring of love, caring, and affection towards Edwarda. I learned a lot about love from the experience. Like it or not, this is a community of real human beings with real lives. Edwarda chose to make a lot of her life public here, and we gathered things that she posted about publicly.
