Dickey Betts Announces Solo Tour

Dickey Betts has announced that he will launch a solo tour in August. Betts will be joined by The Dickey Betts Band, which will include Mark May as well as other musicians to be announced in the coming weeks. In May, Betts received a fax from original Allman Brothers Band members Butch Trucks, Gregg Allman and Jaimoe informing him that he would not be touring with the band this summer due to his recent disappointing performances. Jimmy Herring (ARU, Jazz is Dead, Phil & Friends) was chosen as a replacement and is currently performing with the band. It is unclear if Betts will tour with the Allman Brothers in future.

The Dickey Betts Band will tour for a week to ten days. So far, only two dates have been confirmed: August 26 at the House of Blues in North Myrtle Beach, SC and September 2 at Hookaville Fall 2000, being held at Buckeye Lake Music Center in Hebron, OH. More shows are expected to announced soon.
