Hi Disu,

Glad you are back.
I just finished listening to the QCOM Conf. Call.

I wasn't overly thrilled by it.
I heard a lot of stuff I expected to hear.
They cleared up some FUDD.
There was nothing that totally blew my socks off though...

I'm still sitting on some cash, waiting for some sale prices...

Your QCOM and Market thoughts would be appreciated.

from splittrader.com:
Looking ahead, tomorrow gives us June's housing starts and
building permits reports. The Street consensus is for 1.57
million housing starts and 1.50 million new building permits.
Don't sweat this report. If the consensus is wrong in either
direction, it's likely to have little impact on the market.

What will have an impact, though, is Alan Greenspan's
Humphrey-Hawkins testimony. The market will have a difficult
time rallying into Greenspan's report (scheduled to begin at
10:00 EDT). After the report, though, it could be a
different story, particularly if Greenspan is as innocuous as
many market watchers believe he will be.

The consensus now forming among traders and investors is that
the last two trading sessions have been nothing more than an
"amateur shakeout" that will enable the professionals to
accumulate stock at a lower price. If that's the case, the
markets will be rallying sooner rather than later.

also trade pick:

Thursday's Play-of-the-Day
==========================

MRVC - MRV Communications $77.94 +7.81 (+5.19)

This fiber optics play benefited from rumors Wednesday. We don't
normally chase a rumor stock, but it's what happened after the
market Wednesday that has us interested in MRVC. Just after the
close, it was announced that JDSU would be added to the S&P 500.
That news is likely to heat up the fiber optics group once again
on Thursday. We consider this Play of the Day risky because of
today's large move and the overall selling in the NASDAQ
Composite. The rumor surrounding this stock is that it is a
possible takeover candidate and there was also speculation that it
may be mentioned in the next Gilder report. Both rumors are
unsubstantiated so a conservative trader may want to be careful
here to protect against selling. We are entering at Wednesday's
closing price, with a stop at 72. Resistance is Wednesday's
intraday high at 82. If the stock moves over 82, that may be a
decent entry point to confirm that Wednesday was an authentic
breakout. MRVC will report earnings on July 27th (Thursday after
the market). We'll be sure to exit no later than next Thursday's
close.

Picked on July 19th @ $77.94
