Albert and Thread,

Here's how one reporter is reporting (note no mention of pre-tax issue)..

--5:18 pm - By Janet Haney
After the close of trade, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD: news, msgs) reported
second-quarter net income of $207.1 million, or $1.21 a share, sailing past
estimates polled by First Call which predicted the No. 2 maker of
microprocessors would earn $1.14 a share. Sales for the period hit $1.2
billion, compared with $595.1 million. The company also announced a 2-for-1
stock split.
