I don't have the reference handy, but Steven Gould has compiled a list of existing animals that display the whole range of light sensors from simple light/dark patches that help flatworms find the top of the water from the bottom, through simple lenses, to the finest eyes (found in the octopus). Eyes have evolved a half dozen separate times in different animal families. The human eye is a mediocre design with the retina attachment blocking part of the vision, so it does not speak well to a planned design.

How anyone could believe that Jehovah personally intervened in every one of the millions of changes that occurred in the evolution of a human eye when he was so busy slaughtering Egyptian soldiers and Midianite women and children (who worshipped him) really astounds me.
