Somebody at work advised me of the most amazing windfall. There are crates and crates of vinyl ell pee records at a nearby Goodwill going for the princely sum of $.49 a slab. And these babies are in UNPLAYED condition. I grabbed a double armful of Ravel, Vivaldi, Mahler, younameit. Heart and ELO for the Disco Bride. A lone Steve Miller album that doesn't even reek of bong. Who here liked Joni Mitchell? I found three of hers in so-so condition (sleeve) and spotless condition (wax). I grabbed'm. I'm getting my turntable refurbed by this really talented guy in Berkeley. Now I need a phono stage ... my preamp is line-level only. It'll be a month before the turntable is ready. I'm all aflutter. One day I'll buy one of the turntables he builds from scratch, but I'll need to have one of my orphan tech stocks do an Ugly Duckling in order to honestly afford it.
