Stomper, the problem is that WCDMA is not ready for deployment. Its adoption will slow down the tornado until the ASICS are ready to ship, infrastructure is retrofitted, etc.

QCOM is basically publicly endorsing the WCDMA movement so that the market understands that QCOM wins that game too. But QCOM is ready to play the HDR, CDMA2000 game now with shippable product.

If QCOM resists the WCDMA movement, it weakens their position in so many ways.
