Doug, there are no prior historic examples for US private sector indebtedness at levels as extreme as now. in every which way (absolute, as a percentage of disposable income and as a percentage of GDP) it is at an all time high.

also the savings rate is concurrently at an all time low. if and when an economic doenturn arrives, this will have tragic consequences.

re: the silver market, it is indeed more than strange...silver stock piles are at a multi decade low, the supply/demand deficit of roughly 200 m. oz. annually continues to persist, and yet the price remains depressed. tellingly, 80% of the silver short position on the COMEX is held by only 4 entities, who if called upon to deliver would find this to be physically impossible.
