Company Press Release

SmartSources.com Develops Strategic Internet Presence for The NAFTA Institute

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 20, 2000-- SmartSources.com Inc. (OTCBB:SSXX - news; Frankfurt:SMQ), an Internet technology & services company, announced today that the company has successfully deployed the first phase of a comprehensive, kServer-based Internet presence, called a kSite, for The NAFTA Institute based in Washington, DC.

Powered by kServer(TM) technology, the kSite showcases the Institute's model of a comprehensive NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) information resource by utilizing kServer's powerful content publishing and management features. This kSite will allow The NAFTA Institute's
administrators and contributors the ability to easily author, publish, post and maintain dynamic content and extensive information.

SmartSources.com is providing the required hardware and bandwidth infrastructure for maintenance of the first phase of the Institute's Internet presence. SmartSources.com was selected by The NAFTA Institute to become its technology partner in creating the most credible and extensive online
resource on North American trade. The kSite for the Institute will be called NaftaInstitute.net, the ``North American Trade Educational Network''; it will bring together institutions, government agencies, businesses and organizations into virtual networks to share information on NAFTA and international trade, create new knowledge, and provide strategic support to each other.

``SmartSources.com is looking forward to developing the Phase two of the Institute's Internet presence, which involves building multiple kSites that will incorporate powerful portal generation capabilities for each end user,'' stated Nathan Nifco, Chairman & CEO of SmartSources.com.
``These kSites will organize and distribute information to users and subscribers, and connect a network of customized interactive portals that link businesses, academic institutions, organizations and individuals at the local and the national level.''

Phase two will also include a synergistic convergence of kServer(TM) with SmartSources.com's International Trade Division suite of products in providing The NAFTA Institute web users with NAFTA compliance services such as determinations of origin and the production of certificates of origin on request.

``We are extremely pleased with the results of our first phase Internet presence, and thank SmartSources.com for the commitment and professionalism exhibited in getting the job done,'' commented Philip H. Potter, President of The NAFTA Institute. ``The company's leading edge technology is providing the foundation for our comprehensive trade education network. kServer(TM) allows us to turn immense amounts of information and content, from multiple sources, into manageable, usable knowledge. We can now link people and information in ways we never could before.''
