Another intellectualized solution. The Germans call it "gedanken", mind experiments. You forget that the issue is not in or at the PC. It's between the PC and the Black CATV cable in the ground or above the ground called the drop down. There isn't that much trouble with configuring say, WinXXX, but maybe 10% can do it easily. Without prior experience you just don't know how to proceed. Dynamic IP? Self installing NICs? Boxing it? You're not understanding the problem. None of that is very relevant.
