I believe you have an option to "set as default" (or some such wording) and must use this before your new template becomes the default.

Check post #3581 for info on new patch. A couple items listed may address the template. I ran into same issue last night just trying to change the default window header information. FYI, I am running on Win2000 OS and plan to get the patch.

Mike,

I use MS 7.0 too. I've had a similar problem. When I save a template, I name it in the usual fashion. If I want that to be the default, I right click and choose the option to make this template my default.

But, unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be all that's necessary. I've found that you must also resave that template as the default. IOW, it's a 2-step process.

Mike,

the problem you are encountering is not a bug. In the 7.0 version Metastock was changed to default to using Smart Charts. You can change this by opening the "Choose Security" Dialog (rightmost icon in the icon bar in the lower right hand corner of the chart window; next to arrows to change security), then select the Options tab and choose "Use Chart as Template" instead of "Use Smart Charts".

Metastock offers two moving averages: DEMA and TEMA. The help file says that "TEMA is a unique smoothing indicator developed by Patrick Mulloy. It was originally introduced in the January 1994 issue of Technical Analysis of Stocks & Commodities magazine."

I located and ordered a copy of Mulloy's article. What I received (for $5.95) was a very good article titled "Smoothing Data with Faster Moving Averages" which is a discussion of DEMA. Apparently, Mulloy wrote two articles: one each on DEMA and TEMA.

Does anyone have a copy of the TEMA article? It appeared in the S&C February, 1994 issue.

Would appreciate any help!

Mike
