While Noam & co. are beginning to adjust their perception of different ways to maximize shareholder value (probably through discourse with more savvy investment bankers) we should all realize that the historical predilection has been that management's compensation is mainly derived from stock appreciation and management's significant ownership position closely aligns them with other shareholders. Therefore, what maximizes our shareholder value is good for everyone else. While their investment horizon may be longer than ours, we certainly have more going for us than without the above situation.

<<I'm not saying that your scenario doesn't add value to the company...I'm saying that, as an investor, I may not be willing to risk my money in this venture any longer without a higher reward/risk ratio.>>

well, let's see.... where else could you have garnered a 1200% return over the last 12 months? i think anyone who believes they can use the cash more wisely, should take their money and run to the next "venture" as quickly as possible.

for me, i bought MRVC 'way back when' b/c of their technology and not their marketing. the technology has beaten out their lack of marketing abilities (watch the spinoffs for their marketing, though... should be much better than their parent company). if they take their cash and put it back into technology, i'm all for the potential risk/reward scenario... i'd guess Fidelity and Janus are, as well.
