Just shy of 128.

Do you consider the company with which it intends to merge reporting earnings after hours as NEW news in your scheme of things?

Marc

John, in buying those puts, are you looking at the stock to drop quickly and rebound? Or do you feel it will trade low for some time? I respect your opinion an awful lot, but I just don't see JDSU getting hit anytime soon, with buying pressure of S&P over the next 3 weeks, SDLI superior earnings tonite, ETEK's earnings, and JDSU superior earnings next week.

Let's see how it closes. Looks like it's going to be around $128...

I'm not a trader and will gladly defer to your knowledge and experience.

That said, I follow SDLI (sold JDSU on the merger annc.), and am looking forward to earnings this afternoon. (Conference call at 2:00 pm, PDT.) They pre-announced on May 10 ---

San Jose, California, May 10, 2000-- SDL, Inc. (Nasdaq: SDLI) announced today that it expects to report financial results, excluding acquisition and other non-cash charges, for the second quarter ending June 30, 2000 well in excess of prior estimates

--- mid-way in the quarter --- so it's pretty certain their numbers will be good.

Bottom line: the two companies are tied at the hip. What affects one, affects the other.

I've hedge part of my position and will do more over the next two weeks.
