Is that correct?

I believe you.....I don't know why I thought it was held there many other times. Actually, Number 2 is so hard it was fun to watch the pros roll off the green as I did so often.

I am correct about Baltusrol, however, no? 5 or 6 US Opens going back to the turn of the last century. Baltusrol had the Open on the Upper Course for the first couple, and the Lower for the last 3?

Yes, I checked further and I was mistaken.

Actually it makes sense that there would not be many Majors played there. It's two hours, roughly, by car out of Raliegh-Durham. A bit of a trip for an Open in years past.

These days a pro would just have a helicopter fly him in. Years back they would have to bring extra GI cans of water in case the radiator overheated.

Yes it was there, and it is a great course (albeit almost unfairly hard). We followed Payne around the last day which is something I will never forget now that he has passed away. Then again following Tiger this year was awesome too. captaink.home.texas.net
