More interesting stuff:
PALO ALTO, Calif., July 20 (Reuters) - Merrill Lynch
analyst Henry Blodget Thursday downgraded ExciteAtHome Corp.
<ATHM.O> to "accumulate" from "buy," citing the company's
failure to meet second quarter subscriber growth estimates.
Blodget wrote in a research report that the company missed subscriber growth estimates by 100,000, or about 25 percent of Merrill's forecast. He also noted that the company's page views were down from the first quarter.
"This quarter's performance is particularly troubling given the strategy shift announced after Q1, which called for sacrificing near-term profit to invest heavily in broadband subscriber growth and international," Blodget wrote.
He also noted that the company now needs to grow its
subscriber base at a rate double what it has achieved in any
prior quarter, in order to meet its year-end target of 3
million subscribers.
"The company (or pieces of it) remain attractive for
acquisition, but we no longer have confidence in organic
visibility or growth," he wrote.
ExciteAtHome shares were down 1-3/8 in late trade to
17-5/8.

You very well may have sold at the bottom.

LOL! Not a chance.

15 at least. Maybe 12.
Our last ditch stand is at 17 1/2. You honestly think we are going to see a buying surge over the next few days?

Face it KB- its always been about subscriber growth. Nobody believes they have a chance of hitting 3 million anymore. I don't even believe it.

Most troubling is that they don't have a good explaination as to why. Maybe broadband just is not as popular as we think. Maybe the underlying technology just is not scaling well. Maybe DSL is winning. I don't know.

I keep hearing stories about how responsive customer service has become and how quick they can get the truck roll. These things are bad.

Something is wrong more than just a modem shortage and they are not bothering to tell us what it is.

Guys,

FWIW I am buying 40 August 17.5 calls right now at 1 3/8's. I am done on 17 of them, I've got 23 to go.

If we close above or at 17 1/2 today, the base stays if not, single digits here we come. I am willing to take the shot. Anyone care to join me?

Regards,

Rob
