Hi Gottfried,
Not only are your charts appreciated but your getting philosophical as well.

Pretty tough to beat! <vbg>

It certainly shows what a great runup we had in March of this year.Interesting that Amat appears to have held onto most of it's gains, and unfortunately for me Cohu has lost more than most(even compared to the laggard KLIC).

What seems different this cycle is that both in 96 and 97 there were second leg attempts to old highs. That so far hasn't yet occurred.

Several items still hold out hope:

1) since this top was bigger and higher - it will take longer to shake out the weak holders.
2)Since the 3 month moving average of shipments vs bookings is still not caught up or peaked we should still have hope.
3)This cycle looks to be much bigger and longer so the second leg still has time to work out.
4)Amats capability to hold onto most of it's gains does provide hope/leadership.

The biggest nagative I see in those charts is the declining rate of backlog not shipped.I'm thinking if that reverses up - we might see our second leg get some legs.

As GZ puts it. PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE

Really do appreciate your greay work.

Thanks again

Bob
