The drum beat doesn't change. Some of the villains shift around, though.

I enjoy being critical and making fun of them. I figure I'm entitled as I was a dues paying member for a year and a fringe hanger-on for a little while longer. Their theories of international intrigue are silly and a waste of time to talk about, but on the local level, they actually do some good things.

Me and another Bircher once went to a town hall meeting of Nancy Johnson, Rep. from the 6th district of Connecticut. We had those Bircher report cards with us, and Ms. Johnson's was not a very good one. We had planned to pass them out, but when we got there, we noticed she had a literature table set up and there was nobody around, so we plunked our pile of Bircher report cards down along with her own literature. As people began coming in, they would walk down the table, taking pieces of literature, then take a seat, studying the literature. It was hard to keep a straight face observing people's puzzlement as they'd listen to Johnson, look at the report card, look back at Johnson, with obvious cognitive dissonance.

I wanted to grab the pile of report cards on the way out to use another day, but my friend suggested we leave them there. We often wondered if they were neatly packed away and put out again, or if they discovered the skullduggery before that could happen. Either way, I did feel empathy for the junior aide whose duty it was to oversee the literature table. I think we taught him a valuable lesson - don't leave the literature table unattended!
